Mr. Wonderful Prelude: Action Bronson & Herbie Hancock - "Get Off My P.P." (Cookin' Soul Remix)

It's almost hard to believe that chef-turned rapper Action Bronson's independently pressed Dr. Lecter album was already released nearly four years ago. He's somehow managed to unknowingly charm over middle [white] America, whilst rapping almost exclusively about fine dining, pro wrestling, sexual exploits, and drug trade. My beautiful girlfriend and I have been lucky enough to witness Bronson's charismatic stage show twice thus far, on the 2 High 2 Die Tour alongside Danny Brown & Trash Talk and as part of the XXL Freshmen 2013 Tour with Joey Bada$$ & Big K.R.I.T... both ahead of the release of his Blue Chips 2 mixtape, which is quite arguably his most cohesive body of work yet. While we're still patiently waiting for Action Bronson's long-rumored VICE Records debut, tentatively titled "Mr. Wonderful," Spanish production duo Cookin' Soul recently concocted an unofficial remix of Dr. Lecter stand-out, "Get Off My P.P." For the time being, I'll just let Roots affiliates okayplayer break it down for ya: "the righteous rehash swaps Jazz great for Jazz great, supplanting the original track's chop of Dizzy [Gillespie]'s standard "A Night In Tunisia" for Herbie [Hancock]'s brilliantly regal "Death Wish (Main Title)." Hancock single-handedly composed an original score for 1974 vigilante action film, Death Wish, which just so happens to have starred another notorious Bronson — Charles Bronson. No word just yet on a full-length Action Bronson vs. Charles Bronson by way of Herbie Hancock project, but as always, Cookin' Soul's cut, gutted, and well done production work adds a whole 'nother layer of depth and Soul-Funk to Bronson's aged "Get Off My P.P." "I'll tell [you] this, Nobody in the History of Rap music will ever have more Piano solos or Guitar face-melters on their Album than me," read a slightly overzealous note @ActionBronson himself posted on Twitter mid-Friday morning.

[W]reckless, Topless American Youth: Lana del Rey - "Born 2 Die" (Britney Spears Birthday 30)

Lana del Rey [Lizzy Grant] effectively became 2011's "It Girl" with the release of her phenomenal debut single, "Video Games" (Stranger) . Like many struggling singer-songwriters, Grant has been signed, dropped, and significantly changed her public image since bursting onto the scene (2009). With that said, it can be assumed that Lana del Rey has collected just as many "haters" as she has avid supporters. To be perfectly honest, the only other artist I can think of that made this much commotion... garnered so much wide-spread buzz/hate and critical acclaim -- right out of the gates -- with just one track is Britney Spears . And maybe in this post- Mike musical era, that's the true synthesis of Pop Culture: Britney Lynn Spears . After months of repeated teasing and speculation, Lana del Rey 's major label debut, Born 2 Die will [finally] be released this coming Jan. 30-31, 2012. Pitchfork reports that it will feature "Off to The Ra

Lindsay Lohan essentially embodies exactly "What NOT to Do In Hollywood :" Fame, fortune, success... sex, drugs & Rock "N" Roll . Within a fairly short period of time, Lohan somehow managed to obtain a plentiful helping of POWER @ a very young age. Between rapid-paced film shoots, Lindsay Lohan also found time to record 2 Pop Rock albums for Casablanca , Speak (2004) and A Litter More Personal-Raw (2005). Needless to say, Lindsay Lohan has gotten roped up in a lot of troubles and woes with the law over the last 3-5 years... a vicious cycle of drugs, arrest, court, rehab, "daddy issues," jail time [Repeat]. That's the pure basics of it - But Google that shit for additional info, if necessary. Towards the end of
